South Africa’s Kruger National Park implements day visitor gate quotas for festive season
South African National Parks (SANParks) is reminding visitors that gate quotas will be in effect for day visitors to Kruger National Park during the festive season. Pre-booking online is strongly recommended.
Park spokesperson Isaac Phaahla emphasised that the quotas are a management tool to prevent overcrowding and are enforced year-round, particularly during peak periods. Pre-booked day visitors will be prioritised at entry gates but must arrive within their booked time slots. Late arrivals will be considered non-booked. Wild Card members are not exempt from the pre-booking requirement or conservation fees.
Once the daily quota is reached, only pre-booked visitors will be permitted entry. Non-booked visitors will need to queue and wait for departing visitors to create openings. These quotas do not affect overnight guests.
Conservation fees remain applicable, with varying rates for South African residents, SADC nationals, and international visitors. Cash-free payment systems are available at several gates. Vehicles without license plates will be denied entry and may be impounded if found inside the park.
Entry time slots are:
- 05:30 - 08:00
- 08:00 - 10:00
- 10:00 onwards
Bookings can be made online at www.sanparks.org or by calling 012 428 9111.
