South Africa Launches New Digital Business Visa System to Boost Economic Growth

The Department of Trade, Industry, and Competition (DTIC) has introduced the Business Visa Recommendation System (VRS), a new digital platform designed to streamline business visa applications for foreign investors. The system, which replaces the previous email-based application process, allows business owners to submit, track, and manage their applications online, improving efficiency, transparency, and accessibility. Acting Deputy Director-General Yunus Hoosen highlighted that the platform will eliminate incomplete applications and enhance investment-related data collection, reinforcing South Africa’s commitment to facilitating a business-friendly environment.
This initiative aligns with broader efforts to attract international investment and boost economic growth. Simplifying visa procedures forms part of South Africa’s strategy to draw more business travellers and investors, complementing its goal of reaching 15 million tourists by 2030. Alongside the relaxed visa regime, the launch of the Trusted Tour Operators Scheme (TTOS) aims to ease the visa application process for travellers from key markets such as India and China, making the country a more attractive destination for both business and leisure tourism.
