Singapore Airlines adds flights to Johannesburg in peak seasons

Singapore Airlines (SIA) has announced plans to increase its flight capacity to Johannesburg, South Africa, as part of its 2025 Northern Summer operating season schedule. From 11 December 2024 to 10 January 2025, and again from 2 April 2025 to 24 October 2025, SIA will add three weekly flights to its Johannesburg route. This increase will bring the total number of weekly flights to the South African city to 10, up from the current daily service.

The capacity boost comes as part of SIA's broader strategy to expand its global network and meet growing travel demand. While the airline is making significant changes across its European, Australian, and Southeast Asian routes, the additional flights to Johannesburg represent its only announced expansion in Africa for the upcoming season.

This move indicates SIA's confidence in the South African market and suggests a positive outlook for air travel demand between Singapore and South Africa. The increased connectivity is likely to benefit both business and leisure travellers, potentially stimulating tourism and trade between the two regions.
