Sierra Leone has launched its inaugural National Strategic Tourism Plan, a landmark project developed in collaboration with the World Bank's Sierra Leone Economic Diversification Project (SLEDP).

The plan was unveiled by Vice President Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh on behalf of President Julius Maada Bio at an event attended by government officials, parliamentarians, and international partners.

Created by Keios Development Consulting (Italy) and The Journey (South Africa), the 10-year strategy provides a comprehensive vision, roadmap, and strategies for developing Sierra Leone's tourism sector over the next decade, backed by a detailed five-year action plan.

“Since 2018, we've invested heavily in tourism infrastructure like our new airport. Tourism will generate revenue and jobs through economic diversification,” stated Vice President Jalloh, highlighting improved visa policies and publicity efforts.

Tourism Minister Nabeela Tunis hailed the people-centred plan as “overcoming challenges and cultivating a profitable, sustainable industry fostering economic growth.”
