Seychelles to Host First African Beach Soccer World Cup

The Seychelles will make history from 1–11 May 2025, as it becomes the first African nation to host the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup. Set on the pristine shores of Victoria, Mahé, the tournament will feature 16 international teams—including Brazil, Portugal, Italy, and African champions Senegal—with global broadcasts expected to place the islands in the international spotlight. With some 3,600 visitors anticipated, the event offers a significant opportunity for travel agents across Africa to promote specialised packages combining sport and island tourism.

Backed by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), this event signals Africa’s growing role in international sport. For the Seychelles, the tournament is expected to boost long-term sports tourism potential, supported by sound infrastructure and over 6,300 hotel rooms. African travel professionals are well placed to design tiered travel packages featuring international flights, inter-island excursions, beach sports, and cultural experiences. With occupancy rates projected at just under 57%, availability remains robust, and agents can tap strong margins across budget to luxury segments during this milestone sporting event.
