Seychelles Opens New Marine Fuelling Station to Advance Blue Economy

Seychelles President Wavel Ramkalawan has officially inaugurated the Eve Island Marine Fuelling Station on Praslin; a key infrastructure development aimed at strengthening marine transport and supporting the island nation’s blue economy. The facility will enhance fuelling capacity for boat charter operators and fishing vessels operating across the inner islands, providing reliable logistical support for both the fisheries sector and inter-island marine services.
The fuelling station is part of broader government efforts to modernise maritime infrastructure essential to economic sustainability. Speaking at the launch, Fisheries and Blue Economy Minister Jean-François Ferrari highlighted the project’s alignment with national goals for sector resilience and growth. With improved fuel access expected to ease operational pressures on local marine operators, the new facility is poised to boost regional connectivity, trade, and livelihoods across Praslin and neighbouring islands.
