Seychelles Nature Trail Draws Global Participation and Promotes Eco-Tourism
The second edition of the Seychelles Nature Trail concluded successfully on 23 August 2025, reinforcing the country’s growing reputation as a hub for eco-tourism and international sports tourism. Organised by the Tourism Department in collaboration with Ilop Sports and several national agencies, the 22km trail run through Morne Seychellois National Park attracted 169 runners from 16 countries, further supporting the promotion of eco-tourism, wellness, and community engagement through sport.
Participants tackled a demanding course across diverse terrain, with key checkpoints at Cap Ternay, Anse Major, and Mare aux Cochons. Pakistani runner Wiquar Ahmad Nasir won the men’s category, while Réunion’s Isabelle Lame topped the women’s field. The event concluded with prize-giving and a vibrant cultural celebration in Grand Anse Mahé, highlighting Seychelles’ Creole heritage through music, dance, and local cuisine. Organisers say the trail race is poised to become a standout fixture on the international sporting calendar and a valuable asset in promoting sustainable tourism in the region.
