The Sir Selwyn Selwyn-Clarke Market, an iconic landmark in Victoria, Seychelles, will close in March 2025 for extensive renovations aimed at modernising the facility. Originally built in 1840, the historic market was last updated in 1999 and will now undergo improvements including air conditioning, better drainage systems, and enhanced pest control to elevate the experience for vendors and visitors. During the renovation, market operations will be relocated to the former STC Supermarket in Victoria, with preparations underway to facilitate a smooth transition.

The temporary venue is being adapted to ensure continuity, with the Agriculture Department addressing airflow, fire safety, and vendor space requirements. While structural changes to the former STC Supermarket will remain minimal, efforts are focused on maintaining hygiene and operational efficiency during this period. Visitors can still expect the market’s vibrant atmosphere, personalised service, and high-quality produce, ensuring the essence of Victoria Market remains intact until its newly upgraded home reopens.
