Serengeti Balloon Safaris Release 2025 Sustainbility Impact By Numbers
At Serengeti Balloon Safaris, having a genuine sustainable & ethical approach to all we do sits at the very heart of our business. We first established a clear Sustainability Policy in 2020 and since then we have been building the positive impact that we make year on year. Below are some of the highlights of our 2025 activity which is in line with UN SDGs and GSTC criteria and focuses on measurable performance, partnerships, and system-level impact. Key focus areas include circular economy initiatives, safety system improvements, and workforce development.

Financial investment / Donations
- 9222$ given to Carbon Tanzania to offset all carbon emissions including any travel for marketing events etc.
- 9,000$ given to Serengeti De-Snaring Project
- 1,125$ given to Okota recycling in Arusha to support innovative recycling initiative
- 800$ given to support Mbuni Football club grass roots youth football team
- 700$ given to sanitary support project in collaboration with Lemala - supporting young women back into school
- 20,000$ invested in the development of a toilet block for the SBS staff teams as part of an increase in overall staff welfare improvements.
- 500$ Kili Kids Climate Festival in partnership with Greenmanjaro Foundation
Lives impacted
- 103 lives directly positively impacted through full time employment at SBS benefiting from recent salary rises to support increased cost of living
- 22 people put through comprehensive 3 week free training scheme - Balloon Trailblazers Programme – of which 12 were retained (for a further 2-year intensive training programme) in employment at SBS with the rest being supported into employment elsewhere
- 1,500 kids educated and inspired through Kili Kids Climate Festival in partnership with Greenmanjaro Foundation
- 780 Number of children’s lives positively impacted at Robanda Secondary School with the construction of new toilet block / 20,000 USD investment by SBS
- 40+ local entrepreneurs and businesses supported through proactive positive procurement policy
- Up to all 215 staff attended up to 10 different courses throughout 2025 including training on sustainability, first aid and firefighting.
