SANParks to Host Vision 2040 Indaba in Gqeberha to Drive Inclusive Conservation Agenda

South African National Parks (SANParks) will host the inaugural Vision 2040 Indaba from 3 to 5 September 2025 at Running Waters in Gqeberha, marking a strategic milestone in its long-term conservation planning. The event follows the completion of a comprehensive strategic framework and is set to shape a collaborative, community-inclusive model for conservation in South Africa.

Bringing together stakeholders from government, civil society, land claimant communities, academia, the private sector and youth representatives, the Indaba aims to align efforts under SANParks’ Vision 2040. The strategy promotes a people-centred approach linking biodiversity conservation with social justice and economic empowerment. The gathering is expected to foster deep dialogue and forge actionable partnerships to support an equitable and sustainable future for South Africa’s protected areas.
