SANParks to establish Kruger Relief Fund for flood recovery

South Africa’s Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment, Willie Aucamp, has announced that SANParks will establish the Kruger Relief Fund to support rebuilding efforts, emergency supplies and other necessities following flood damage in Kruger National Park. The announcement follows the Minister’s visit to the park to assess the impact of heavy rains in Mpumalanga and Limpopo and engage with SANParks leadership. The fund aims to accelerate recovery of critical infrastructure and services that underpin tourism operations.

The fund will be managed and audited by two independent auditing firms, with further details to be issued shortly. Authorities report no loss of life and successful evacuations, and advise the public to follow SANParks’ official channels for verified updates as conditions continue to be monitored.
