SANParks’ new educational partnership

South African National Parks (SANParks) and the Good Work Foundation (GWF) have signed a cooperation agreement to expand digital learning campuses around South Africa’s national parks, starting with the Greater Kruger National Park. The pilot will run from GWF’s Hazyview campus – positioned as a gateway hub to Kruger – with the aim of widening access to conservation education and digital skills while creating pathways to jobs for young people in nearby rural and township communities.

GWF currently operates five campuses in Mpumalanga, including a central site in Hazyview and four satellites near the Sabi Sands Game Reserve, plus a campus in Philippolis in the Free State. SANParks, which manages 21 national parks, has identified priority landscapes for new sites including Addo Elephant (Eastern Cape), Golden Gate Highlands (Free State), and Augrabies Falls and Namaqua (Northern Cape). GWF says it already serves more than 13,500 young people, with the expanded network expected to reach many more and open internships and work placements at SANParks facilities – supporting skills pipelines and community benefits linked to South Africa’s nature‑based tourism economy.
