SalamAir Launches Only Direct Route Between Oman and Nairobi

Oman’s low-cost carrier, SalamAir, has launched direct flights between Muscat and Nairobi, enhancing air connectivity between the two nations. The inaugural flight landed at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on 17 March 2025, welcomed by officials including Kenya’s Principal Secretary for Transport, Mohamed Daghar, and the Omani Ambassador to Kenya, Her Excellency Nasra Salim Mohamed Al Hashmi. This new route marks SalamAir’s expansion into East Africa, providing a direct link that is expected to strengthen trade, tourism, and investment between Oman and Kenya.
SalamAir CEO Adrian Hamilton-Manns highlighted Nairobi’s strategic importance as a business hub and a gateway to Kenya’s tourism sector. The airline is currently the only carrier offering direct flights between Oman and Kenya, reducing travel time and simplifying connections. Kenyan and Omani officials have welcomed the move, citing opportunities for increased cultural exchange and business collaborations. The service is expected to drive two-way tourism, with Kenyan travellers gaining easier access to the Gulf region while Omani visitors explore Kenya’s renowned wildlife and coastal attractions.
