SAA resumes direct Cape Town – Mauritius flights
South African Airways has restarted direct services between Cape Town and Mauritius, launching a three‑times‑weekly, year‑round route on 9 December. The inaugural flight departed at full capacity, signalling strong demand, and the service forms part of the carrier’s ongoing network rebuild and recovery efforts.
The route links two economically significant markets and adds cargo capacity. Market indicators point to resilience – Wesgro reports the Cape Town–Mauritius market reached 93% of pre‑pandemic volumes between January and August 2025, while 2024 demand exceeded available seats by 16%. South African Tourism recorded an 18% year‑on‑year rise in arrivals from January to October, including a 14% increase from Mauritius, underscoring the route’s tourism potential.
