South African Airways (SAA) has reestablished its codeshare partnership with Brazil's Gol Linhas Aéreas Inteligentes, effective immediately. The agreement, suspended during the COVID-19 pandemic, now covers flights between Cape Town, Johannesburg, and Rio de Janeiro, as well as domestic routes in both countries.

SAA's chief commercial officer, Tebogo Tsimane, emphasised the strategic importance of Brazil to South Africa, citing potential benefits for tourism, business, and trade. The partnership allows SAA to add its code to over 20 Gol-operated flights within Brazil, with plans to expand to 60 additional Latin American destinations.

André Gaspar, Gol's head of alliances, expressed enthusiasm about strengthening Brazil-Africa relations and expanding options for Gol customers.

The agreement also includes reciprocal frequent flyer benefits. Tsimane highlighted this move as part of SAA's broader strategy to enhance intercontinental connectivity, following recent launches of direct flights to São Paulo and Perth. He stated that this partnership underscores SAA's commitment to facilitating growth and its determined path towards profitability.
