Rwanda signs deal with Steve Harvey to promote tourism and investment in the country
The Rwanda Development Board (RDB) has signed a significant agreement with American entertainer Steve Harvey's company BILT LLC to promote tourism and investment in Rwanda. The partnership, signed by RDB CEO Francis Gatare and Harvey in Kigali on December 16, 2024, focuses on developing skills in film, media, and education, alongside health and wellness initiatives, and includes plans to establish an academic institution through Harvey's education company, Melt Education.
The collaboration comes at a time of substantial growth in Rwanda's tourism sector, which saw revenues increase by 36% from $445 million in 2022 to $620 million in 2023, with ambitious government targets set at $800 million for 2024. Harvey, who has visited Rwanda twice in recent months, including attendance at the International Automobile Federation (FIA) awards in Kigali, demonstrates the country's increasing ability to attract high-profile international partnerships to support its tourism and development goals.
