Rodrigues readies 26th Festival Kréol Rodrig

Rodrigues, one of the Mascarene Islands near Mauritius and Réunion, will host the 26th Festival Kréol Rodrig from 30 November to 7 December 2025. Led by the Commission of Arts, Culture and Sports with support from the Regional Assembly, the Tourism Commission and local partners, the week‑long programme celebrates the island’s Creole heritage under the theme “Together, Let’s Take Creole Culture Further!” Highlights include the UNESCO‑recognised séga tambour – reinforcing the island’s appeal as a cultural tourism draw in the Mascarenes.

Port‑Mathurin’s Solidarité Street will anchor activities with markets, exhibitions and performances by local artisans, alongside Rodriguan gastronomy. The traditional boat regatta – typically the opener – will conclude the festival on 7 December at Pointe l’Herbe, bringing together communities and visitors on the lagoon. Organisers say the event aims to engage younger generations and support local creatives, with regatta registrations closing on 29 November 2025.
