Queen Mary of Denmark on three-day Kenya visit focused on conservation

Her Majesty Queen Mary of Denmark arrived in Nairobi on Tuesday night for a three-day official visit. She was received at JKIA by Prime Cabinet Secretary and Foreign Affairs CS Musalia Mudavadi and Tourism and Wildlife CS Rebecca Miano and will participate in the ongoing UNEA-7 at the United Nations Office in Nairobi.

The programme includes tours of coastal conservation and development projects focused on endangered species and the protection of marine and terrestrial ecosystems, as well as inspections of landfill and waste management initiatives in Nairobi that advance circular economy solutions. Kenya’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the visit is expected to deepen partnerships in renewable energy, environmental protection and people-centred development – with clear links to nature-based tourism and destination resilience.
