Qatar Airways to boost South Africa capacity

Qatar Airways will increase services to South Africa from 35 to 42 weekly flights from February 2026, adding frequencies to Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban to meet rising demand for business and leisure travel. The move is set to improve one‑stop connectivity via Doha to the airline’s network of 170+ destinations, supporting tourism and trade flows.

Frequencies will rise as follows: Johannesburg – Doha from 18 to 21 weekly flights from 18 February; Cape Town – Doha from 12 to 14 from 17 February; Durban – Doha (via Maputo) from five to seven from 5 March. The expansion aligns with the carrier’s wider Africa strategy, including partnerships with Air Algérie, Kenya Airways and RwandAir, and a 25% stake in Airlink, alongside cargo capacity that helps move more than 6,000 tonnes a week to and from the continent.
