Pristine Wildlife and Nature
Mozambique is a biodiverse country with pristine beaches, islands, coral reefs and wilderness regions. Mozambique hosts three different types of vegetation including dense forestland in higher parts to the north and centre, woodland and savannah in the south and mangroves along the coast.
This landscape is home to wildlife including big game like lions, cheetahs, elephants, leopards and rhinos as well as smaller animals like antelopes, zebras, hyenas and buffalo. Marine wildlife includes humpback whales, whale sharks, manta rays, dolphins, dugongs, turtles and many fish. New endemic species are being discovered regularly. Large numbers of birds are either resident in or migrate across Mozambique, 768 species having been recorded, including 34 globally threatened species.
