Princess Cruises reroutes 2025 world cruises, replacing Dubai with Cape Town

In a significant itinerary change, Princess Cruises has announced that its 2025 World Cruises aboard Island Princess and Crown Princess will bypass the Middle East and Asia due to ongoing security concerns in the Red Sea. Instead, the ships will circumnavigate Africa, with Cape Town replacing Dubai as a key turnaround port.
The revised Island Princess 116-day world cruise, departing Fort Lauderdale on 5 January will now stop in Cape Town on 9 March rather than Dubai on 14 March. Guests joining or leaving in Cape Town will receive compensation and onboard credits.
The 113-day Crown Princess world cruise from Auckland on 31 May will also navigate around Africa instead of transiting the Red Sea and Asia, with a finalised revised itinerary forthcoming.
"These global events beyond our control necessitated re-routings, but we'll ensure destination-rich itineraries with incredible Africa and Mediterranean stops," said Princess Cruises CCO Terry Thornton. The changes allow the cruise line to avoid areas impacted by Houthi rebel attacks on shipping.
