Partnering With Local Community To Save Our Common Heritage

For the last 23 years, Basecamp Explorer Kenya has been partnering with the local community to create meaningful safari experiences for all our guests. We attribute our success from closely partnering with the local Maasai community by involving them in all aspects of the community projects enabling generations to benefit through this process. We have seen this process transform the areas where we operate in Masai Mara to incredible safari destinations due to them being good places to live in and good places to visit.

Today we have established various sustainable initiatives including empowering the local Maasai women, promoting conservation of the world’s most important wildlife area, planting more than 178,000 trees that have since become a haven for over 300 bird species and introduced the Enjoolata Training Center that serves as a centre for educational tourism. We are happy to see that our community partnerships have since unlocked the potential for new generations to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to be inspired custodians of these wildlife habitats and to continue our journey of making a meaningful impact in the lives of others.
