Outeniqua Nature Reserve to introduce permit fee

CapeNature will introduce a permit fee at Outeniqua Nature Reserve from 15 December 2025, with revenue ring‑fenced for conservation to keep the reserve clean, safe and visitor‑ready. The move supports capacity management and a more consistent visitor experience during peak season.

Fees are set at R55 per adult and R35 per child aged 4–17, with free entry for children under 4 and Wild Card holders. Permits can be bought online or at the gate, with daily limits applied per trail; Cradock Pass remains open, while the Kouma, George and Cradock Peak trails will reopen in phases following maintenance. The reserve operates 07:30–16:00, with summer access from 06:00 for longer peak trails, and security able to verify online permits.
