Nigeria to set up December task force for Detty December
Nigeria will establish a Presidential Task Force on Detty December to coordinate inter‑agency support and strengthen the country’s festive tourism, Minister of Arts, Culture, Tourism & Creative Economy Hannatu Musa Musawa said on Thursday 6 November after a Federal Executive Council meeting chaired by President Bola Tinubu. The Council also approved Tourism and Cultural Economic Zones in each of the six geopolitical regions and the Federal Capital Territory to leverage regional strengths and promote cultural assets as drivers of economic growth.
The task force will bring together key ministries and agencies – including aviation, interior and power – to support Lagos and other states in maximising the month‑long festive season, which attracts large diaspora inflows. FEC further adopted Naija Season as a national tourism brand, reactivated the Presidential Council on Tourism Promotion and Investment – to be chaired by the President – and endorsed cross‑sector intellectual property reforms enabling creatives to use IP as collateral, measures expected to bolster Nigeria’s appeal to travellers and investors.
