Ngorongoro Sees Surge in Visitors

Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority (NCAA) praised President Samia Suluhu Hassan's initiatives in revitalising the tourism sector, resulting in a remarkable influx of 534,065 tourists during the first half of 2023/24.
Richard Kiiza, NCAA Conservation Commissioner, attributed this 10% increase from the corresponding period last fiscal year to President Samia's efforts post-Covid-19, particularly after her appearance in the Royal Tour documentary. He noted that this surge brought the total visitors to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area (NCA) to 752,232 for 2022/23, up from 191,614 in 2020/21.
Kiiza shared these insights during a presentation of NCAA's performance report to media editors in Dar es Salaam, organised by the Office of Treasurer Registrar (OTR), highlighting achievements under President Samia's leadership over three years.
He anticipates the tourist numbers to reach one million in the 2023/24 fiscal year, with revenue soaring from 31bn/- in 2020/21 to 171bn/- in 2022/23, marking the highest collection rate ever.
