Newmark Hotels expands with luxury Gorilla Heights Lodge in Uganda’s Bwindi National Park
Newmark Hotels & Reserves has expanded its African portfolio with the opening of the Gorilla Heights Lodge in Uganda’s Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, underscoring its commitment to eco-luxury and wildlife tourism. The lodge, inaugurated on 7 November 2024, is situated at Bwindi’s highest elevation, offering guests sweeping views of the Virunga Mountains and an immersive experience in the habitat of Uganda’s iconic mountain gorillas.
Set on 12 acres, Gorilla Heights Lodge features 15 bespoke cottages designed to blend comfort with local character. Guests have direct access to gorilla trekking in the Nkuringo sector and can explore other parts of Bwindi, offering encounters with four local gorilla families and additional trekking opportunities. Enhanced by the culinary expertise of Chef Chris Erasmus, guests can dine at Humura Restaurant and unwind at the Canopy Bar, both with stunning forest views.
With this new lodge, Newmark strengthens its presence in Africa’s luxury inbound market, joining properties in Cape Town, the Greater Kruger, Mauritius, and Zanzibar.
