New mentorship programme to boost African tourism leadership

The Essence of Africa event has launched a mentorship programme to support emerging tourism businesses ahead of its December gathering in Nairobi. Led by Leanne Haigh of Lemala Camps & Lodges, the initiative aims to connect industry veterans with new tourism enterprises across Africa.
Selected participants will receive a 4,000 USD participation package including pre-show marketing, exhibition space and up to 36 meetings with relevant buyers. The programme also offers pre-event training, networking opportunities and ongoing mentorship support.
“Mentorship provides invaluable guidance, support, and knowledge transfer, empowering new entrants to navigate the complexities of the tourism landscape,” says Chris Mears, Co-Founder of Essence of Africa and CEO of ATTA® Events.
The programme aims to foster innovation, enhance digital capabilities, and promote sustainable tourism practices while creating jobs and economic opportunities across the continent. Ten emerging businesses will be selected from applications received for the 2024 programme.
The Essence of Africa event takes place in Nairobi from 2-4 December 2024.
