Sambora Kinigi Lodge is a family owned, nine suite boutique lodge located minutes from the gates of Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda , one of only three destinations in the world where travellers can trek to see mountain gorillas in the wild. Founded in February 2023 by Greg Campher and Sam Boarer , who between them bring over 16 years of on the ground Rwanda experience ,Sambora has quickly established itself as one of the most trusted independent properties in the region.
With a 99% guest approval rating and strong partnerships with the Rwanda Development Board and local government, the lodge delivers a level of quality and consistency that travel professionals can rely on. All 36+ staff are locally employed, and a portion of every guest stay is directed toward cultural conservation, community projects, and partnerships with organisations including the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund, Hand Spun Hope, Red Rocks, and Virunga Mountain Spirits. Guests experience farm-to-table dining featuring produce from on-site gardens and neighbouring farms, handcrafted suites with private terraces and volcano views, and a curated programme of cultural encounters that go far beyond the typical gorilla trekking itinerary.
