WHO WE ARE

GSGC is a grassroots network committed to empowering girls and young women in Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Madagascar toward greater independence and gender equity through mentoring, education, and life skills. By strengthening families and community members can live a life of opportunity and dignity and eventually break the cycle of generational poverty.

WHAT WE DO

We support and come alongside dynamic changemakers, and social entrepreneurs in Southern Africa, who have the knowledge and the passion for empowering their communities. Together we help empower and transform the lives of youth, Mentors, Donors, and GSGC itself. From there, existing programs generate new ones, and the process is replicated.

HOW WE DO IT

GSGC provides grants, and support to community-based organizations creating a collaborative mentor network that shares common goals. They provide safe spaces for small youth groups and customize their programs based on their skills and the particular needs of their community.

WHY WE DO IT

Investing in women and girls is one of the most effective ways to reach community upliftment and social equality, and climate justice. GSGC-sponsored mentored girls overwhelmingly excel and remain in school, delaying marriage and childbearing thus increasing earning power, confidence, independence, and opportunity. They have fewer and healthier children and invest in their families. Gender equity results in stronger families and more prosperous communities

WHERE WE DO IT

They are among the almost 60 clubs with approximately 1100 youth that GSGC currently sponsors in Zimbabwe, Zambia, and Madagascar. Demand for the GSGC clubs is soaring. Girls, boys, parents/caregivers, teachers, and community leaders are all asking for more programs. Many clubs are located near wildlife areas and natural attractions. By educating girls, we improve these local economies, reducing the dependence on poaching and enabling careers in tourism.
