New Member - Dyslexia Tanzania

Dyslexia Tanzania is a Tanzanian non-governmental organisation (NGO) established in 2023 and based in Arusha. Its core purpose is to advocate for children with dyslexia, increase public understanding of this learning difference, and promote inclusive education across Tanzania. The organisation was co-founded by Caudence Moraa Ayoti and Johns Habibu Rashidi, with their personal experience raising a dyslexic child shaping its mission. Dyslexia Tanzania works to dispel myths and stigma around dyslexia, emphasizing that the condition affects reading, writing, spelling and phonological processing, and is not linked to intelligence or effort. Its activities include awareness campaigns, workshops in schools and communities, teacher training to build capacity for identifying and supporting dyslexic learners,  and public events such as the Dyslexia Awareness Run and talent shows designed to engage families and stakeholders. These efforts are intended to support early identification, improve teaching practices, and encourage policy shifts toward greater recognition and support for learners with dyslexia in formal education. Dyslexia Tanzania also engages in partnerships, online education, and community outreach to expand its impact and contribute to a more inclusive educational environment where children who learn differently are understood, supported, and valued.
