New Anti-Poaching K9 Camp Launched in Kruger National Park

An anti-poaching K9 Camp has officially opened at Mdluli Safari Lodge within Kruger National Park, strengthening the region’s conservation efforts. Launched on International Earth Day 2025, the facility will serve as a base for rangers and specialised sniffer dogs to work collaboratively in combating wildlife crime. The camp falls under the newly established Mdluli Conservation and Anti-Poaching Reserve, situated near Pretoriuskop, and was made possible through funding from Italian donors, including tour operator il Diamante.
The initiative has already yielded results: four arrests, the training of over 40 rangers, and the removal of nearly 3,000 snares and 150 alien plants. Partners involved in the project were recognised with certificates of appreciation during the opening ceremony, where stakeholders from SANParks, Mdluli Safari Lodge, and private conservation groups gathered. Officials highlighted how multi-stakeholder collaboration boosts conservation outcomes, underlining the critical link between wildlife protection and sustainable tourism growth.
