Namibia’s HKIA and Walvis Bay airports recertified
The Namibia Airports Company has secured re-certification for Hosea Kutako International Airport and Walvis Bay International Airport, each achieving an 83% Effective Implementation score. Aerodrome certificates were issued by the Namibia Civil Aviation Authority on 5 December 2025 and are valid until 6 December 2027, confirming compliance with NAMCAR Parts 139 and 140 and alignment with ICAO SARPs. The milestone is expected to strengthen airline confidence and support route retention and growth – a boost for Namibia’s connectivity, tourism and MICE markets.
The rigorous process covered 17 audit areas, including Safety Management Systems, emergency planning, rescue and fire fighting, runway safety, maintenance and data integrity. NAC CEO Bisey Uirab said the outcome reflects sustained investment in people, infrastructure and systems, underscoring safe, efficient and internationally compliant operations that underpin national development goals linked to air transport.
