Namibia Appoints Indileni Daniel as New Minister of Environment and Tourism

New Namibian President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has appointed Indileni Daniel as the country’s new Minister of Environment and Tourism. Daniel was named as part of a 14-member cabinet announced on 22 March at the State House in Windhoek. She replaces Pohamba Shifeta, who held the position for a decade, and takes on a ministry that has been restructured to focus solely on environment and tourism, separating forestry from its portfolio.
Following her swearing-in, Daniel expressed her commitment to strengthening Namibia’s tourism sector as a key driver of economic growth. Speaking to the Namibia Press Agency, she emphasised the importance of maintaining a safe and sustainable environment to support tourism. She also highlighted the need for strong collaboration with stakeholders to further develop the industry and enhance its contribution to the national economy.
