Mozambique Tourism Summit to spotlight culture as economic driver

Mozambique's National Agency for Tourism Development and Investment (ANDITUR) and the Secretary of State for Arts and Culture have aligned on a joint panel for the upcoming Mozambique Tourism Summit, scheduled for 5 and 6 November in Vilankulo, Inhambane province. The panel, titled "Culture as an Economic Asset for Tourism," will bring together operators and professionals from both sectors and forms part of broader efforts to integrate cultural heritage into the country's tourism offering. The summit will be held under the theme "Mozambique: Where Africa Reinvents Itself" and is expected to draw representatives from around 30 countries.

The meeting between ANDITUR Chairperson Hélder Jauana and Secretary of State Matilde Muocha also covered the development of joint projects and coordinated participation in national and international events to promote both tourism and culture. Muocha highlighted the importance of integrating the two sectors, noting that culture ranks among the primary attractions for both domestic and international visitors. The summit aims to position Mozambique as both a tourism destination and an investment opportunity, with Vilankulo - also earmarked for airport upgrades under the country's Civil Aviation Master Plan 2026 - 2045 - providing a fitting backdrop for the event.
