Mozambique to offer 10-year residence visas to US$5m investors
Mozambique has announced plans to grant 10-year residence visas to investors committing at least US$5 million – and five-year residence for investments from US$500,000 – President Daniel Chapo said on Tuesday. Unveiled at the first Mozambique Tourism Summit in Vilanculos, the measures aim to attract capital and ease travel, including facilitating visas on arrival for African citizens under the AfCFTA and launching an online platform to obtain tourism and investment visas remotely.
Chapo added that government will regulate air fares to improve accessibility and liberalise private, domestic and international flights to boost connectivity and high-end tourism. He proposed declaring Inhambane as the first Special Golf Tourism Zone, with hubs in Vilanculos, Tofo and Barra. Vilanculos was named the country’s tourism capital and is set to host the second summit in October or November next year.
