Morocco's Tourism Revenue Climbs 10% to MAD 97.9 Billion by End of August

Morocco's tourism revenues reached MAD 97.9 billion (US$ 10 billion) by the end of August 2026, a 10% increase on the same period a year earlier, according to data from the National Tourism Observatory. The country recorded 30.9 million overnight stays in classified accommodation establishments over the period — up 8% year-on-year — with an occupancy rate of 57%, one percentage point higher than the prior year. Arrivals at border crossing points exceeded 14.1 million visitors in the first eight months, a 4.5% increase on the same period last year.

Growth was broad-based across key destinations, with Rabat leading at 18%, followed by Ouarzazate at 16%, Casablanca at 11%, and Agadir at 10%, while Marrakech, Fez, and Tangier each recorded increases of between 7% and 9%. Separate data from Morocco's Ministry of Tourism indicates the country welcomed 15.7 million tourists by the end of September 2026 — a 5% rise on the same period in 2025, representing over 717,000 additional arrivals. September alone drew more than 1.5 million visitors, up 8% from September 2025, reinforcing Morocco's continued upward trajectory as one of Africa's leading tourism destinations.
