Mali to revive national carrier – first flight targeted for 2026

Mali is moving to re‑establish its flag carrier, Mali Airlines SA, after more than a decade without a national airline. An inaugural board meeting has set governance and operational frameworks, experienced leadership is in place, and the first commercial flight is targeted for 2026 – a step aimed at improving connectivity and economic prospects.

Aircraft acquisitions and route development are still to be confirmed, with the relaunch expected to enhance mobility for the landlocked country and support tourism, trade and regional integration. The move aligns with a broader African trend of strengthening national carriers to expand access to regional and global markets.
