Magical Kenya Trails Series launches in Nandi
The 2026 Magical Kenya Mountain and Trails Series kicked off in Tinderet, Nandi County, with organisers projecting more than 1,000 direct jobs for the tourism sector. Kenya Tourism Board CEO June Chepkemei said the government will continue investing in supporting infrastructure, as the series adds 4×4 off‑road adventure rides for the first time to complement existing biking and hiking experiences and strengthen Kenya’s adventure tourism offer.
Held over three days, the Nandi leg blended off‑road driving, cycling, hiking, cultural immersion and competitive sport. Co‑headlined by the Taptengelei Cultural Festival and the Tinderet Barngetuny Mountain Run – a selection event for the World Mountain and Trail Running Championships – over 3,000 runners and more than 10,000 spectators participated. As part of capacity‑building efforts, 100 students from the host region will receive hospitality and tourism scholarships, while local communities were encouraged to supply services to capture event‑driven visitor spend.
