LIFT joins IATA ahead of Mauritius route launch
South Africa’s low-cost carrier LIFT has joined the International Air Transport Association (IATA) as it prepares to launch its first international service to Mauritius using Airbus A320 aircraft. The move supports regulatory alignment and operational standards as the airline expands beyond domestic operations.
The planned Mauritius route will add capacity and choice on a high‑demand leisure corridor, improving regional connectivity for tourism stakeholders in southern Africa. IATA membership is expected to facilitate safety compliance, industry settlement processes and partnerships, positioning LIFT to scale regional operations in line with rising demand for intra‑African travel.
