Desert & Delta Safaris and Savanna Expeditions have partnered to uplift one of Botswana’s first exclusive photographic safari lodges, the former Khwai River Lodge.
Sediba Sa Rona (meaning “Our Source of Water”) is an ode to the Khwai River and truly encapsulates the spirit of this exceptional journey. It reiterates the Desert & Delta Safaris far-reaching economic impact by partnering with Savanna Expeditions, a Botswana citizen-owned company, and its commitment to sustainable development. The original lodge's footprint and capacity will remain, thus reducing the impact of additional rooms being built in the Okavango Delta. This is an example of responsible tourism at its finest.
Sediba Sa Rona will be more than a stunning lodge. For guests, it will be a sanctuary for industry-leading safari journeys. For Botswana, it will be a fresh source that initiates positive, widespread ripple effects.

Sediba Sa Rona is primed to be one of the most spectacular properties in the entire Khwai region, a destination best described by Desert & Delta Safaris as the meeting point of iconic ecosystems.
Positioned between the Okavango Delta’s eastern fan and bordering Moremi Game Reserve, the Khwai Concession is a vital ecological hub. With a rich landscape of floodplains, rivers, savannahs, and woodlands, it serves as a key wildlife corridor where guests can witness some of the best of Botswana’s game viewing.
A LEGACY OF LUXURY & SOUL BREATHES NEW LIFE:
Desert & Delta Safaris’ reputation of exceptional safari journeys that masterfully blend sustainable luxury, soulful service, and epic adventure will take on new life with the opening of Sediba Sa Rona. The design of the lodge will reflect this consistent standard. Expect a masterpiece of modern finishes, natural materials, and striking special features.
With just 15 Luxury Tents, one of which is a two-bedroom Luxury Family Tent, Sediba Sa Rona will prioritise privacy and peace. All suites will have en-suite bathrooms and outdoor decks overlooking the Khwai River and the birds and wildlife attracted to it.
The main areas will comprise a swimming pool, open-air fire deck, elevated viewing platforms, a bar, a spa and various al fresco dining spaces, where meals will be served in a communal setting or enjoyed privately upon request. Expansive views will be central to a consistent connection with nature.
THE MEETING POINT OF ICONIC ECOSYSTEMS:
Elephants, buffalos, big cats (including leopards, lions and cheetahs), wild dogs, hippos, plains game and an incredible abundance of birds frequent this region, and guests will have every opportunity for memorable sightings.
Inclusive activities at Sediba Sa Rona include twice-daily game drives plus optional night drives. Seasonal mokoro (traditional dugout canoe) excursions will cover the Khwai River, and bird watching is unmissable for avid and novice birders alike. Those curious about the concession’s famed neighbour, Moremi Game Reserve, have the option of a requested day trip.
