LAM prohibits fresh food in hand luggage and aircraft cabin
Mozambique’s flag carrier Linhas Aéreas de Moçambique (LAM) announced on 8 January 2026 that fresh food products are no longer permitted in hand luggage or in the aircraft cabin across its network, citing flight safety and compliance with civil aviation regulations. The change affects passengers on both domestic and international services.
The restriction covers perishable items such as fruit, vegetables, meat, fish and unpackaged dairy, which the airline says can cause contamination, unpleasant odours or spoilage during flight. Fresh products may still be transported in checked baggage or shipped as cargo, subject to safety and operational requirements, with LAM saying the measure supports safe and efficient operations.
