LAM Mozambique to resume Portugal flights
Mozambique’s president, Daniel Chapo, said on 8 December in Porto that state carrier LAM will restart services to Portugal and intends to add Brazil and India, beginning with Portugal. No start dates were given. Chapo said the move aims to bolster tourism and business ties and could help moderate fares on the Maputo–Lisbon route, which is currently served direct only by TAP.
He added that LAM is stabilising domestically, eyeing Johannesburg and Harare next, and is negotiating two additional aircraft before consolidating the three long‑haul routes. LAM suspended Maputo–Lisbon in February 2025 after losses of €20 million, having relaunched the service in November 2023 with euroAtlantic aircraft under Fly Modern Ark’s management.
