La Réunion Tourism Board to Strengthen South African Trade Ties at WTM Africa 2026
La Réunion Tourism Board will participate in WTM Africa 2026, taking place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre from 13 - 15 April, with a focus on deepening partnerships with South African travel trade and media. The board will be joined at its stand by eight partners spanning destination management companies, accommodation providers, and Air Austral, which operates direct connections to Johannesburg. Complementing the trade show, the board is hosting travel trade workshops in Johannesburg on 10 April and Cape Town on 16 April.
The participation coincides with a significant development in the destination's regional strategy - the appointment of the French South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FSACCI) as La Réunion's official representation office in South Africa. FSACCI will coordinate trade engagement, media relations, and partnerships between the two markets. La Réunion, a visa-free destination reachable in under four hours from Johannesburg, offers South African travellers access to over 900 kilometres of hiking trails, UNESCO-listed landscapes, and a rich Creole cultural heritage, with more than 40% of the island protected as a national park.
