Kruger weather disrupts access – gate changes and closures in effect
Persistent heavy rain in Limpopo and Mpumalanga is disrupting access to Kruger National Park, with SANParks advising visitors to use specific open routes. Recommended access is Skukuza via Paul Kruger Gate; Malalane and Berg‑en‑Dal via Malalane Gate; Crocodile Bridge and Lower Sabie via Crocodile Bridge Gate; Orpen and Satara via Orpen Gate; and Olifants, Letaba and Mopani via Phalaborwa or Orpen gates. Phabeni Gate is open but may close at short notice as river levels rise, while Pafuri and Punda Maria gates remain closed.
Several internal links are also inaccessible – no travel from Skukuza to Lower Sabie, Crocodile Bridge, Tshokwane or Satara due to flooded Sabie Low Water Bridge and detours, and no access between Lower Sabie and Tshokwane with the H10 closed. Access to Pretoriuskop is via Numbi or Phabeni, and the north of the park remains closed. Conditions are being monitored and further updates will be issued; travellers should check status before departure.
