Kruger National Park suspends day visitors amid severe rainfall
South African National Parks has temporarily suspended day‑visitor access to Kruger National Park due to persistent heavy rain across Limpopo and Mpumalanga. The precaution follows an incident earlier this week when rising river levels covered the bridge at Crocodile Bridge Gate, delaying exits for several day visitors who were later assisted safely. SANParks said resources need to focus on essential emergency response and guest safety, with the restriction reviewed as weather and road conditions change.
Letaba Rest Camp is evacuating staff and guests after water from the Letaba River entered the camp. Phalaborwa Gate is closed for at least 24 hours – leaving no access to the northern section of the park – while authorities continue to monitor conditions. Further updates will be issued as the situation evolves.
