Kruger National Park Introduces Gate Quota System for Easter Weekend
South African National Parks (SANParks) has introduced a gate quota system at Kruger National Park for the Easter weekend, from 18–21 April 2025, to manage high visitor volumes and ensure a smoother experience. The system divides entry into set time slots—06:00–08:00, 08:00–10:00, and 10:00 onwards—requiring all guests to pre-book their entry in advance. Entry without a reservation will not be permitted.
Travel agents are advised to adjust itineraries accordingly and inform clients about the need for mandatory pre-booking. Agents should also ensure travellers are aware of stricter park enforcement during this peak period, including speed limits, after-hours travel rules, and vehicle documentation requirements. The move reflects a growing trend toward sustainable visitor management across African parks, aiming to improve both conservation outcomes and guest experiences.
