Kitich Forest Camp: Elevating the fly camping experience

Kitich+Fly+Camping+2.jpg

We have invested in new tents and other small improvements to enhance the overall fly camping experience, in addition to increasing our caravan of camels and donkeys so you can explore this beautiful wilderness with all the creature comforts you could need. Our Samburu guides, who have an incredible instinct and know these forest paths intimately, have recently undergone a refresher course to excel their guiding skills and knowledge. There are over 22 trails, varying in level of difficulty to give our guests an incredible adventure when they set off with our team of amazing Samburu guides, including an armed ranger, treading in the footprints of elephants and listening to the sound of nature echoing through this stunning landscape.

The Matthews Range stretches for an impressive 150 kilometers, surrounded by desert and low-lying plains, it is a refuge for the extraordinary ancient Juniper and Cycad forests that whisper secrets, while elephants and other creatures roam freely. This ‘sky island’ fosters a unique ecosystem where some species have even evolved independently, creating a biodiversity treasure trove. There are so many spectacular wonders to discover in this remote wilderness from fly fishing in pristine streams, swimming in hidden rock pools to walking ancient paths learning the secrets of the forest. At the end of the day set up camp, made up of our new Dome Tents complete with comfortable mattresses and warm, soft blankets, a ‘mess tent’ and bush bathrooms. As dinner is prepared, sit around a campfire listening to the stories of old before a delicious meal is served under a canopy of a million stars then fall asleep listening to the peaceful sounds of the wild.

The Kitich Forest Camp trails offers a genuine cultural immersion and ‘off the beaten track’ experience with no vehicles or other travellers!
