Kgalagadi rains bring rare green flush

Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park enjoyed exceptional weekend rainfall, with Nossob Rest Camp recording 109 mm in two days – roughly a month’s worth for this part of the Kalahari. Showers fell across the park and are set to trigger a vivid green-up of the Red Kalahari sands, offering a rare and short-lived transformation for visitors.

Storm impacts were limited to minor damage to a few guest tents, some fallen trees and light wear on internal roads. Repair and maintenance work is under way, and visitors are advised to use high-clearance or 4×4 vehicles until water levels recede – with teams focused on keeping travel safe and smooth as the landscape revitalises.
