Rebecca Miano, Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife, has called on Kenyan travel operators to develop short city tours targeting transit passengers, following the introduction of the Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA) system for transit and long-connection travellers.

Speaking at the launch of the Coast Tourism Circuit campaign in Mombasa, Miano highlighted growing opportunities, including high demand for digital nomad permits from expatriates seeking to live and work remotely in Kenya.

The Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife announced collaborations with other government departments, including plans to strengthen the Tourist Police Unit for enhanced security at tourism sites during the festive season. She is also working with the Attorney General to address obstacles affecting destination weddings by foreign visitors.

Kenya Tourism Board CEO June Chepkemei emphasised the importance of events, festivals and sports in attracting visitors. She noted growing interest in destination weddings and announced plans to position Kenya's coast as a premier wedding destination.

The Coast Tourism Circuit launch is the third under the Tembea Kenya campaign, following successful launches in Western and North Rift regions, aimed at promoting both domestic and international tourism.
