Kenya Tourism Board targets US market growth
The Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) is intensifying its focus on the United States market, the country's leading source of international visitors, at this week's United States Tour Operators Association (USTOA) Annual Conference.
KTB CEO June Chepkemei will use the Florida conference to strengthen partnerships with American tour operators, showcasing Kenya's diverse tourism offerings from adventure experiences to cultural immersions and coastal attractions.
The initiative comes as US outbound travel shows strong recovery, with numbers up 9.3 percent in 2023 compared to pre-pandemic levels, according to the US Department of Commerce.
Recent KTB research indicates growing American interest in experiential travel, aligning with Kenya's tourism portfolio. The USTOA conference, running from December 9-13, provides a platform for promoting these opportunities to North American operators.
